Survey results are in.
94% of interviewers prepare before interviews.
59% spend over 10 minutes.
My respondents sample? Highly biased. Filled with dedicated TA professionals.
Numbers probably much higher than average.
But preparation matters. Here's why:
1. Be laser-focused on what you're aiming to assess - both general skills and specific areas to probe based on previous interviews
2. If co-interviewing, calibrate with your partner about who covers what
3. Address any questions the candidate had in previous rounds that you should answer
Remember:
Preparing doesn't mean reading all previous interview notes.
Nor does it mean studying their CV again after initial screening.
It's about maximizing your limited time.
Knowing exactly what you need to assess.
And having a clear plan for how you'll do it.
How do you prepare for interviews?
