Want to Spot a Growth-Minded Sales Rep? Ask This

Every sales candidate claims they’re always learning

But how do you know who actually is?

Ask this:
“What’s the last thing you learned on your own, and how did you go about it?”

What you’re looking for:

  1. Depth – Did they tackle something meaningful, or was it a quick Google search?
  2. Recency – If they haven’t learned anything new in years, that’s a red flag.
  3. Diverse sources – Did they combine insights from multiple places or rely on just one?
  4. Critical thinking – Can they assess and integrate knowledge, or do they just consume it?

The best sales performers are obsessed with learning

They don’t wait for training—they seek out knowledge, refine their skills, and adapt.
