McKinsey & Company just made two smart moves in how it hires
Thanks Hung Lee for highlighting this in the latest Recruiting Brainfood.   First, it asked candidates to 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗔𝗜 𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄𝘀. Not hide it. Not avoid it. Use it.   That’s exactly right. If AI is part of how the job gets done, assessing how candidates prompt, critique, and apply.

The 𝟭𝟬 𝗳𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁-𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗷𝗼𝗯𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗨.𝗦. tell a much bigger story than “what roles are hot right now.”
According to LinkedIn’s 𝗝𝗼𝗯𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 report, the top roles are not defined by titles or years of experience. They are defined by 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱-𝘁𝗼-𝗼𝗯𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀:   1. 𝗔𝗜 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿 → Applied problem-solving with AI 2. 𝗔𝗜 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 & 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁 → Translating AI into business decisions 3. 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗲.

Thank you to Darren Bush for featuring our work in this sharp piece on hiring
Thank you to Darren Bush for featuring our work in this sharp piece on hiring, intuition, and structure, and to Hung Lee for including it in Recruiting Brainfood. The article explores a tension many teams feel every day. Hiring often feels like guessing. The real risk is not intuition itself,.

𝗔𝗻 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻.
Last week we tuned in to a podcast hosted by a well-known talent acquisition thought leader. The conversation turned to skills assessments and at one point he said, repeatedly: "𝘐 𝘣𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵." This is not the first time I’ve heard Talent Acquisition leaders or hiring managers say this..

“𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗱𝗼 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴?
A week ago, we read a post from a lawyer interviewing at several firms. She said she was asked the same question by multiple companies:   “𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗱𝗼 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴?   For us at Informed Decisions, this question is a BIG NO NO   1. A.

Already doing this.   𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁: We still hire for communication, problem-solving, and leadership. These matter. But the game has changed..

𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗘𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
Halloween’s over, but companies are choosing every day whether they trick or treat candidates.   𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗸: Surprising candidates with zero info about the interview format or who they’re meeting. Result: Nervous candidates underperform. You miss out on top talent.   𝗢𝗿 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁: Set clear expectations - format, timing, who’s interviewing..
