The Mews team ran an experiment using an 𝗔𝗜 𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼 𝗮𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 candidates - aiming to gain richer insights beyond the resume.
The results were telling:
• 𝟳𝟬% 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗜 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄.
• In one Business Development role, a manual review revealed 𝟭𝟬 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 who would have been 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗱 if the AI interview had been mandatory.
• Recruiters also saw more 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 - using AI tools to generate answers, and more time spent validating authenticity instead of less.
This isn’t a failure of AI itself - it’s a reminder that how we use it matters. Efficiency is great, but the real goal is better hiring decisions and stronger long-term performance.
At Informed Decisions, we use AI to 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 - giving them feedback, data, and insights that actually improve quality of hire while keeping the process human and fair.
There’s a lot of noise around AI in recruiting. The companies that win will be the ones who use it thoughtfully - to raise the bar on hiring quality, not just to save time.
