𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗩𝗜𝗘𝗪𝗘𝗥𝗦: 𝗪𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗡𝗘𝗦𝗦 𝗤𝗨𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗙𝗔𝗜𝗟𝗦 67% 𝗧𝗜𝗠𝗘

Our LinkedIn survey exposed what we all suspected.

The results are in:

Only 34% of candidates share their TRUE biggest weakness

𝗔 𝘄𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 55% 𝗲𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗴𝘂𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗚𝗧𝗛𝗦 𝗮𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗜𝗥𝗥𝗘𝗟𝗘𝗩𝗔𝗡𝗧 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗷𝗼𝗯

That's right - more than half of candidates are giving prepared, inauthentic responses.

STOP asking this question in interviews.

𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝗶𝘁'𝘀 𝗨𝗦𝗘𝗟𝗘𝗦𝗦:
1. It's predictable, so candidates prepare scripted answers
2. Most won't reveal weaknesses core to the role
3. You get zero valuable assessment data
4. It makes you look like an unthoughtful, unprepared interviewer
5. It wastes precious interview time

𝗧𝗥𝗬 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗦𝗘 𝗤𝗨𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦 𝗜𝗡𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗔𝗗:
1. "Tell me about feedback you received in the workplace about something you need to improve at."
2. "Name 2 skills that will make you a great [role name] and 2 skills you still need to grow to become a great [role name]."
3. "What's the latest thing about yourself you actively worked to improve? When was it and how did you go about it?"

The goal is finding the RIGHT person, not the most rehearsed candidate.
